My visual art practice spans textile installation, mixed media, and sculpture. At the centre of it is a longstanding interest in cloth — I consider it one of the most powerful metaphors available to an artist, a stand-in for flesh, for memory, for the fragile tissue of a human life. String technology, in all its forms, strikes me as one of the most significant examples of human ingenuity: humble, ancient, and still doing the work. I began as a fine craftsperson in the 1980s, and that attention to the hand and to material has remained at the core of everything since.

My work has been exhibited in public galleries across Canada and the United States over the last thirty years. I have received grants for my writing and visual art from the Canada Council for the Arts, the BC Arts Council, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, and Kootenay Columbia Alliance. Recognition for my books includes Saskatchewan Book of the Year for Ferry Woman's History of the World and shortlisting of Philosopher at the Skin Edge of Being for the Fred Cogswell Award for Excellence in Poetry.

I am the author of seven books of poetry. My most recent, Hypatia's Wake, was published by Inanna Publications in 2022. My seventh collection, The Waiting Bench, is forthcoming from Gaspereau Press in 2027. I hold a BA in Philosophy and an MFA in Poetry, and I teach creative writing and cross-discipline creative process seminars at Oxygen Art Centre in Nelson, British Columbia.
